Every bag is cut, stitched and checked in Kathmandu, and nothing about that is fast. It is not a constraint we are apologising for — slow is the reason the seams hold.

Why we make them this way
A bag should outlast the trip you bought it for. Canvas that stiffens instead of tearing, brass that dulls instead of breaking, hide that darkens instead of peeling. None of it is the cheapest thing we could have specified.
Materials
Canvas, brass, vegetable-tanned hide
We buy hide that is tanned with bark rather than chrome, because it takes on the light and oil it meets. Two years in, no two bags look the same — and none of them look new.
